CAHF Associate Members Honored

SACRAMENTO
– A pair of associate members of the California Association of Health Facilities achieved notable recognition in 2013 – including a gubernatorial appointment and a chamber of commerce leadership award.

Carol Burger, president of Burger Rehabilitation Systems, Inc., was named 2013 Businesswoman of the Year by the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. David Turetsky, vice president of operations for Advanced Eyecare, a Professional Optometric Group, was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to serve on the State Board of Optometry.

“Our association is stronger because of the contributions of members like Carol and Dave,” said Jim Gomez, CAHF CEO/President. “We are grateful for their community involvement and leadership in advancing awareness about the importance of delivering quality long-term care.”

Ms. Burger of Folsom, founded Burger Rehabilitation Systems in 1978. In addition to its skilled nursing affiliations, the company owns and operates 12 outpatient clinics in five counties in Northern California and is one of the largest private employers of physical, occupational, hand and speech therapists in the state. Ms. Burger PT, MPA, is a Loma Linda and University of San Francisco graduate.

Dr. Turetsky of Soquel, has been vice president, optometrist and partner at Advanced Eyecare, a Professional Optometric Group, since 2008. He was an optometrist and coordinator at Physicians Network Services from 2005 to 2008 and held multiple position at Pearle VisionCare Inc. from 1993 to 2005. Turetsky earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California Berkeley, School of Optometry.
