SAN DIEGO – The California Association of Health Facilities announced today that Scott Tarde, regional director of operations at Elmcroft Senior Living, has been chosen by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a future leader in long term care. Tarde will join the association’s Future Leaders program, a year-long program that offers training and guidance for long term care professionals.
“AHCA/NCAL is committed to providing educational opportunities for long term care leaders to advance their understanding of the profession and to promote a culture of quality within their facilities,” said Mark Parkinson, president/CEO of AHCA/NCAL. “We look forward to seeing the 2013-2014 Future Leaders apply their program training and newly acquired skills to improve the future of long term care.”
“Scott has worked diligently to improve the quality of life and quality of care of seniors in the San Diego area,” said Jim Gomez, president/CEO of the California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF). “He’s among the best in our profession, and his participation in this national program will enable him to further advance his leadership skills.”
A licensed nursing home administrator, Tarde previously served as executive director of the Remington Club, a 405-bed multi-level retirement community in Rancho Bernardo. In his role at Elmcroft, Tarde oversees four multi-level retirement communities, two memory care communities and four assisted living communities in Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico. He’s held leadership positions in CAHF, remains active at the local chapter level and has a passion for educating the general public, elected representatives and other health care providers about the important role of long term care.
Since 2004, AHCA/NCAL has hosted long term care professionals in the Future Leaders program. Selected participants both demonstrate leadership potential and represent the interests of both state and national long term care providers. The program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction and leadership. The year-long program kicks off with a two-day symposium, “Future Leaders of Long Term Care in America,” held each year in Washington, D.C. This year’s symposium will take place July 24 - 26.
