CAHFPAF
The CAHF Political Activity Fund (CAHFPAF) is a bipartisan political action fund of the California Association of Health Facilities. CAHFPAF is an essential element of CAHF's efforts to build greater understanding about long-term care and its evolving role in the continuum of care.
CAHFPAF contributions make a difference. Many sitting legislators are termed out each election year, and their open seats are often filled by individuals who may have no prior involvement with CAHF or long-term care issues. Other freshmen legislators will be running for their first re-election. CAHFPAF contributions enable us to have an immediate impact on these people in their districts to begin to build and solidify a working relationship before they begin crafting state policy in Sacramento.
The benefit of a well-targeted political activity throughout the state is evidenced by the number of legislators who are willing to get involved with long-term care issues in Sacramento. A strong CAHFPAF agenda is extremely important to educate and inform legislators regarding the changing dynamics of California's long-term care system.
CAHFPAF - QUICK FACTS
-
Member facility CAHFPAF contributions (voluntary $10 dollars a bed) are the cornerstone of the PAF.
-
CAHFPAF accepts facility, not-for-profit, corporate and personal donations. Associate member donations and individual donations are critical to support PAF activities. Additional PAF fund-raising activities include golf tournaments, raffles and auctions, which are held throughout the year.
-
The CAHFPAF is operated by CAHF staff and the CAHFPAC Board of Directors, which is comprised of CAHF members. Members of the CAHFPAC Board of Directors determine which candidates to support by considering the recommendations from CAHF members and staff.
-
CAHFPAF contributions are not deductible for income tax purposes. CAHFPAF funds are held in three separate accounts:
-
CAHFPAF General Fund – Used for administrative and operational expenses related to grassroots and political action.
-
CAHFPAC Fund – Used for candidate expenditures
-
The Good Government Fund – Used for contributions to political parties, independent expenditure committees and related entities.
