Dementia Care: Pathway to Reduced Antipsychotic Use

To improve the care of person’s with dementia a care team must take the time to understand the communication of behaviors and creatively provide interventions to assist in providing more comfort to the individuals’ experience. The use of antipsychotic medication for person’s with Alzheimer’s Disease is contraindicated which places responsibility on caregivers to learn and understand the disease process, delve into the how to provide comfort and quality of life without relying on a medication.

Volunteer Programs in Skilled Nursing Facilities: Volunteer Recognition

The Volunteer Engagement Project Manager, Tina Hand, will offer information about volunteer recognition in skilled nursing facilities. This webinar will discuss the importance of recognizing volunteers, suggested ways of doing so, and the considerations that each facility must take into account when designing a plan of recognition.  Lessons learned from this webinar can be applied to staff recognition programs as well as those for volunteers.

Nursing Home Compare Five-Star Quality Rating System

Recent changes were made to the CMS Five-Star Rating System, Quality Measures and Nursing Home Compare. Develop an understanding of how the five-star system works, the calculation of the quality measures and the public view of Nursing Home Compare. The impact of these systems on skilled nursing centers is far reaching, impacting satisfaction, census and reimbursement, and reputation. This webinar will review the Five-Star Rating System, help participants understand the updates to the Quality Measures, learn about the consumer alert icon and clarify effect on star rating.
