Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are a vital part of the skin care and wound prevention team. Knowing the impact that CNAs have on quality measures, the CAHF GR Quality Improvement Subcommittee created a resource focused on skin care and the prevention of pressure injuries. This training will define what a pressure injury is, identify all major pressure points, describe the role of nutrition and hydration in skin health, and demonstrate different methods of offloading and prevention of pressure injuries. Advancing and expanding the skills of CNAs will help improve the resident’s care and experience and positively impact a facility’s QASP and Five Star skin quality measure.
