This virtual training has been split into three sessions for your convenience.
All three sessions must be attended from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm to be eligible for CE hours.

Description of Course:
Designed for those interested in meeting the criteria for the Director of Staff Development (DSD) position in accordance with the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 5, Chapter 2.5, Section 71829.

Within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program, DSD candidates must obtain a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education courses in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs.

DSD Qualifications: To qualify as a DSD, the candidate must be an RN or LVN and satisfy one of the following:

Option 1: Have one-year experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility, IN ADDITION to having one year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (for a total of two years).

Option 2: Have two years of full-time experience as a licensed nurse, at least one of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility.

Participants should plan to spend one to two hours completing an assignment on their own time. Each participant will need to prepare a teaching exercise on the third day of class and be prepared to present in order to receive CE hours and a certificate.

Registrants must be individually logged in for all three days from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm to receive CE hours and certificate

Audio/Visual:
Virtual training experiences will happen in real time on the date and time advertised. They will require a Wi-Fi connection, a laptop/computer and/or a smartphone. For the best experience, we highly encourage you to participate in a distraction-free environment.

Attendees must be individually logged into the training on their own device for the entire presentation to receive continued education (CE) hours and certificate.

As a participant of the Director of Staff Development (DSD) 24-Hour Virtual Training it is required that you have access to your computer’s audio and visual features (microphone and camera) as it is used to participate throughout the training.

Materials ship date(s):  QCHF's DSD Training binder will be shipped on May 20, 2025 to all individuals registered by that date. Registrations placed after May 20, 2025 will receive their binder following the first day of training. BOARD REFUND POLICY
In order to receive a refund, cancellations for QCHF/CAHF classes must be made five (5) business days (Monday-Friday) prior to the beginning of the course. Cancellations must be in writing to cmerced@cahf.org. Transfer of registration is done ONLY if notified in writing prior to the start of the class.
