| Practicing your Plan |
|
It is important for you and your staff to participate in drills and exercises with local responders (such as EMS, fire, law, local public health departments, like facilities, acute care facilities, etc.) to practice your plan (including the use of HICS in your plan). Including as many partners as possible will help the outcomes of your exercise be more realistic. You may wish to start with just a few partners and work your way up. Also, practice of these exercises can range from doing a tabletop all the way up to doing a full scale functional drill. Counties periodically have exercises that they participate inthey will usually include you if you ask, and you can participate at a level that is comfortable for you. To find out more, contact your local first responders or public health department. You should also practice using your facility's HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) during all internal and external drills. |
