This is also crucial to keeping your long term care facility functional in times of disaster. Employees with solid personal emergency plans are much more likely to show up to work in a disaster than those who do not.
- www.72hours.org is San Francisco's personal and family preparedness website. It is extremely user-friendly, and it will guide you through all the components of a good personal plan in simple bite-sized steps. It is well organized and visually appealing-one of our favorites!
- www.emergencypreparednessweek.ca is an excellent Canadian website that walks you through simple forms so that you end up with a plan at the end! Also click on "prepare your emergency kit" to learn how to build your own kit or where to purchase one.
- www.birdflumanual.com will help you prepare at home for pandemic influenza. There are several guides available on this site; in particular, you may be interested in "Good Home Treatment of Influenza." Dr. Woodson, the author of these excellent planning manuals, is a reviewer for CAHF's Pandemic Influenza Workbook.
- www.prepare.org is a website produced by the American Red Cross that provides information and planning help specifically for vulnerable populations. Large print format is available, and there is information for seniors, people with disabilities, children and pet owners.
