Critical Infrastructure

Your critical infrastructure is anything your facility needs to stay up and running, even if you are operating at a decreased level. In other words, these are your key resources–your daily support system. Critical infrastructure provides essential services, and includes things like supply vendors (food, medical, pharmaceutical), utilities (water, electricity, gas, sewage, trash, telecommunications), transportation resources, safety/security resources and financial resources. The healthcare system is also part of the critical infrastructure (part of CAHF's work is to demonstrate that long term care may have a critical role to play in a disaster).

Internally, your organization should first determine, and then plan for your specific critical infrastructure needs.
