The purpose of the organization is to provide support and advocacy on behalf of the families of the mentally ill; CAMI is an affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), which has a similar mission on a national level. CALIFORNIA NETWORK OF MENTAL HEALTH CLIENTS The California Network of Mental Health Clients often referred to as the "Network" is a statewide self-help network of mental health clients. Developed with grant money from the National Institute of Mental Health and the State Department of Mental Health, the Network has proven successful in representing the voice of the client to the Department and the Legislature. The Network has been very successful in organizing a series of "Consumer Speaks" conferences to increase awareness within the community. MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION IN CALIFORNIA The Mental Health Association in California is the statewide coordinating organization for the local mental health associations. These associations are not connected to any government entity, and are made up of concerned citizens and professionals interested in the betterment of California's mental health delivery system. |
