SEPTEMBER 5TH RALLY AT STATE CAPITOL Join Us in Urging the Legislature to PASS A BUDGET NOW! We need your staff, residents, clients and families to join us at the state Capitol this Friday, Sept. 5, for a rally to urge the Legislature to PASS A BUDGET NOW! As conditions continue to grow more desperate for Medi-Cal providers, we must show the Legislature and media the very real, human victims of the budget delay. We will be joined at the rally by representatives of other Medi-Cal dependent health-care services, including the hospitals, adult day health care and health clinics. The state budget is now 64 days past due. The Medi-Cal long-term care payment delays are scheduled to end on Tuesday, Sept. 9, however, if the budget has not passed by Friday, Sept. 5, the earliest date that Medi-Cal could resume payment to long-term care providers is Monday, Sept. 15. Again, this assumes that a budget is passed by Friday, Sept. 12. RALLY DETAILS WHERE: North steps of the Capitol (facing L Street near 11th Street) WHEN: Gather at 9:30 a.m. for the rally at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. WHO: Residents, clients, caregivers, providers, families and friends. (If you are bringing fragile residents and/or clients, please bring wheelchairs/seating and have them accompanied by a caregiver.) OUR MESSAGE: Pass a Budget Now! WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: CAHF and the other rally organizers will provide signs and placards, drinking water and snacks. Rally participants need to dress for warm weather and bring hats, umbrellas, etc. PARKING: Street parking at the Capitol is limited. Rally participants are encouraged to carpool as much as possible. City-owned and private parking near the Capitol include garages at the Hyatt Regency (14th & L), Capitol Garage (10th & L), East End Garage (17th between L & Capitol).
