Special Events and Awards


CAHF AWARDS PROGRAM

One of CAHF's priorities is to ensure that long-term care providers are recognized for their excellence. Through our annual awards program we honor providers, dedicated staff and volunteers for their achievements and their dedication to long-term care.




Spring Awards – Presented at CAHF's Legislative Conference

CAHF begins accepting nominations for these awards in January, 2012.

Showcase Awards
The Showcase Awards are designed to recognize facility, company, chapter or regional efforts promoting the positive image of long-term care. CAHF's Showcase awards are presented at the Legislative Conference in Sacramento and will recognize community events in the following four categories:

  •   Community event
  •   Media event
  •   Grassroots effort
  •   Social media new in 2011

Summer Awards – Presented at CAHF's Summer Conference

CAHF begins accepting nominations for these awards in April.

Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award is designed to recognize individual CAHF members – both providers and associates – who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the goals of CAHF and fostered the highest professional ideals.

Life Membership
Life Membership in CAHF is designed to provide lasting recognition to those who have provided outstanding or exemplary service to the association through involvement at the chapter and state level, as well as providing community service.

Volunteer of the Year (Youth, Adult and Group Categories)
The Volunteer of the Year awards recognize youth, adult and group volunteers who contribute their time and effort to residents of long-term care facilities.

Winter Awards – Presented at CAHF's Annual Convention

CAHF begins accepting nominations for these awards in June.

Excellence in Programming Awards
The Excellence in Programming Awards recognize individual facilities for superior achievement in key areas of long-term care, such as activity programs, community involvement, family involvement, quality assurance, resident councils, special services and staff development.

Facility Super Stars
The Facility Superstars Awards recognize employees of CAHF member facilities who have 10 or more years of service and have dedicated their lives to long-term care. The top 20 nominees are selected by CAHF's Board of Directors to receive the award and attend the awards ceremony.

Nurse of the Year
The Nurse of the Year award is designed to recognize an outstanding registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse who has dedicated her or his professional career to the field of long-term care.

Del Callaway Administrative Excellence Award (NEW!)
Recognizes a long-term care administrator who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and mentoring while advancing patient care and enhancing quality.  Recipients of the Administrative Excellence Award are selected by CAHF’s Board of Directors.

Thomas E. Spindle Memorial Award
CAHF's most prestigious award, the Thomas E. Spindle Memorial Award recognizes an association member who has devoted considerable time and knowledge and provided exemplary service to CAHF at the facility, chapter and state-wide levels.
