“IMPLEMENTING YOUR ANTIBIOTIC STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM:  EASIER THAN YOU THINK”
Presented by
Gloria Escalona, MS, RN-BC

Wednesday, October 26th - 5:00 pm
Approved for 2 Hours NHAP/p and BRN CEU's

Please join us for our next chapter meeting with 2 hours of NHAP/p and BRN CEU credits

This educational program discusses establishing an antibiotic stewardship (AS) program in a long term care facility in order to comply with AFL 15-30 (AB361) and will include some preliminary research from the speaker’s doctoral nursing dissertation on AS in long term care facilities.  This program will be of interest to Administrators, Directors of Nursing, staff developers, nurses, quality assurance staff, pharmacists, and other long term care staff striving to comply with recent legislation that mandates AS programs and may assist in facility preparations for the 2017 survey.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the instructor throughout the presentation.

Upon completion of this 2-hour program, the attendee will be able to:

1. Define antimicrobial stewardship.
2. Discuss what makes an antibiotic order “appropriate.”
3. List at least three barriers to establishing an antibiotic stewardship program in a long term care facility.
4. Describe the roles of key staff needed to lead an AS program to success.
